Welcome to Bedford Village Elementary School

Karen Eldon - Principal

On behalf of our entire school community, I am pleased to welcome you to our website. This is a place where you can explore the many faceted areas that define the supportive school environment at Bedford Village Elementary School: our enthusiastic student body, excellent professional staff and our dedicated, caring parents.

We are fortunate to have an outstanding staff of educators who model and value lifelong learning.  They engage in opportunities to explore new strategies in order to continue to grow professionally and address the interests of their students.  They value differentiating the curriculum and seek new, innovative ways to encourage curiosity, problem solving and support diverse thinking.  As a result, students thrive in an environment that encourages their educational growth.

There is a poem, called Unity, which exemplifies our philosophy inherent in providing the finest education for our young people.

Unity

I dreamt I stood in a studio,
And watched two sculptors there.
The clay they used was a young child’s mind,
And they fashioned it with care.

One was a teacher - the tools she used,
Were books, music, and art.
The other, a parent - working with a guiding hand,
And a gentle loving heart.

Day after day the teacher toiled
With a touch that was deft and sure.
While the parent labored by her side,
And polished and smoothed it o'er.

And when at last, their task was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had molded into the child,
Could neither be sold nor bought.

And each agreed they would have failed
If each had worked alone,
For behind the teacher stood the school,
And behind the parent, the home.
