The BCSD 1st Annual Bike Run was a smashing success!
BIG thanks to everyone who participated, volunteered, organized, supported and cheered on!
POST-EVENT
We had 250 athletes grades K thru 5 from all five elementary schools.
Our largest age group was K-1 with 98 kids. Incredibly cute to see these tiny kids. THEY LOVED IT and were so capable. MANY Many parents/kids remarked that they are so excited to have many elementary years ahead to participate.
We had 50 volunteers. Approximately 500 parents and extended family cheering on the kids.
Dr. Jere Hochman BCSD Superintendent shared opening remarks and volunteered on the transition from bike to run for the entire event cheering on the kids. As you may know, Jere is a runner, tall and handsome. He has a broad smile and it was cute to see he got smaller and into a tighter crouch as the kids got smaller to be sure to cheer them on and guide them at their eye level.
Mark Betz the BCSD Assistant Superintendent was also part of opening ceremonies and the crowd loved when he said "Hello" as his is the voice on the emergency phone system/school closure early am phone calls. He too directed and cheered on kids all day on the race course.
Beth Starpoloi the BCSD Athletic Director shook the hand of every athlete as they crossed the finish line and gave them a custom Bike Run flame metal on a 2011 neck ribbon.
Also part of our Opening Ceremonies were:
- Mayor Mike Cindrich of Mt. Kisco
- Lynda Cindrich, Commissioner of Recreation
- Hon. Peter B. Harckham, Majority Leader Westchester County Board of Legislators
- Charlie Pieragostini, Mt. Kisco Recreation Director

TIMING RESULTS ARE AVAILABLE
Few Important Notes…
Please remember that Bike Run was a personal challenge event and one in which doing it/finishing was the goal. We celebrate each child doing their personal best.
While parent volunteers made every effort to have children pass check points in order to have race times registered, out of 250 participants a handful missed one or more of the four check points. As such, for just 20 participants, some race times are not final or are not listed. We apologize.
We suggest you check for your child’s time in advance of showing him or her. Click below to see results!
If the link does not work, try this one... and search for the event. Each of the finishers metals have a space on the back where you can place a personalized label with your child’s name and time.
We congratulate all of the athletes and thank you for having your kids/family involved. We are already planning for our May 2012 event and hope to see you there!

We have created a PHOTOBUCKET event photo album. If you have pictures from the event, please upload.
