Dear Community Members,

Mount Kisco Elementary School is named perfectly as it is located in the heart of Mount Kisco. We sit close to all of the important places in a neighborhood. MKES is committed to preserving history and traditions of the past, while preparing learners for the 21st century.

Celebrated as a welcoming and warm community, Mount Kisco Elementary School is a K-5 school with approximately 600 students. Mount Kisco Elementary School opened its doors in the fall of 1895 with six classrooms, a large assembly room, a library, an apparatus room and a reception area, under the leadership of Miss Adelaide Norris, the first principal with a staff of four teachers.  In 1912, a new school was built and from that point extensions to the new building were added over the years.  Today, we have a beautiful building added to the original building.  This building boasts enough classrooms for all of our learners.  We also have a Circus Playground, Roary’s Den and the Community Garden on the grounds to enjoy.

MKESA is our Parent Teacher Organization. We are fortunate to have a very active PTO that supports and appreciates student centered initiatives.  Their energy is dedicated to helping all children.  All of the events they organize can be found on the calendar.  Please check the calendar and join us for all the fun events.

All MKES families may enroll their children in the Dual Language Bilingual Education Program (DLBE) before they enter grade 1. Students in DLBE in grades 1-4 engage in math, language arts, science, and social studies in English and Spanish. This innovative model of instruction allows students to become bilingual and biliterate across all subject areas through authentic learning experiences and meaningful interaction in a fully integrated setting.  Students in MKES monolingual classrooms 1-4, are fully integrated with grade-level students for physical education, recess, music as scheduling provides, and lunch periods.

At MKES, we believe in partnerships with students, parents, staff and the community. We provide a safe, nurturing environment that maintains high academic standards for all students.  Students are inspired and encouraged to solve problems, take risks and make decisions that are mindfully considerate to themselves and others.

Sincerely,

Inas Morsi-Hogans
