The Wonders of Hatching Chicks in 1st Grade!!

Through the Cornell Cooperative Extension, each first grade class received ten eggs to incubate for the 21 day cycle. The kindergartners made cards for our town helpers, the first grade for the firefighters, the second grade for the police, third grade for our crossing guards and fourth grade for the senior citizens. FRESH APPLE CIDER AT MKES!!!

MKES Student Places First in Stock Market Game

Congratulations to Kailen from class 5R who took first place in the Westchester Division of the Spring, 2013  Stock Market Game.  Kailen competed against 49 other teams in Westchester County. With a simulated budget of $100,000 to invest in this 10-week game, she earned a total return of more than 7%. We are so proud of Kailen’s success in this investment simulation.

3rd Annual MKES 5K

THE GREAT DEBATE in 5th Grade!

After writing a persuasive essay on the American Revolution,  Ms. Lindsay's and Ms. French's fifth graders decided to express their opinions in a live debate! Their challenge was to debate whether or not to join the Patriot cause or to stay true to England and remain a Loyalist. The students were articulate and passionate. Great job fifth graders!

2-Martinez Scientists!

Mrs. Martinez' second grade class has been learning about different tools in science. We just performed an experiment that measures the temperature of water using a thermometer. We measured hot and cold water temperatures using Fahrenheit (degrees) and Celsius tools and compared the temperatures. Find a scientist in 2-Martinez and ask that student to explain our exciting temperature experiment!
