About the Teacher Welcome to my website. Given the fact that I am technologically challenged, I consider its creation to be quite an accomplishment. I hope that it serves my students and their parents by providing information about the courses I teach, links to valuable resources, and necessary materials for A. P. Language & Composition and English 2T. (The picture, in case you're wondering, is of Kitty, my purebred Persian, who photographs much better than I do.) When I was hired by the Bedford Central School District in 1993, I was one of three new teachers in a very seasoned English department. Since then, I have watched our department grow and change and am now its senior member. The years have certainly flown, mainly because working here has been a rewarding experience, both personally and professionally. The Bedford C.S.D. is committed to excellence and encourages teachers to seek opportunities for growth. Over the years, I have taken courses with the Connecticut Writing Project and attended myriad workshops designed to help English teachers expand their repertoires. As a newer teacher, I found these classes extremely helpful, but as I grew more experienced, I began to miss the rich discussions about literature that are the hallmark of the English classroom. That is why I decided it was time to go back to school for a second Masters degree, this time in literature. I finally c0mpleted my thesis in May of 2005 and now have an MA in Literature to go along with my MS in Education. While the return to academic writing was energizing, I am looking forward to focusing on my fiction, something I reluctantly shelved while pursuing my degree. I look forward to sharing all that I have learned with my students and to learning from them in return. I strongly believe that when it comes to education, the teacher is only half of the equation. Real learning arises from a partnership between students and teachers, all of whom bring their own special gifts to the classroom. The best way to reach me is by e-mailing me. My address is tmorena0780@bcsdny.org. Of course, you are also welcome to call me. The English department phone number is (914) 241-6098.
