A.P. Literature & Composition

Welcome to my website.  I am pleased to have this simple way of making course work available to my students and their parents. I think the menu to the left is self-explanatory and should lead you to most of what you need to know about AP Literature.

My contact information is the last item on the menu. Please contact me whenever you have questions or concerns about A.P. Literature or the English curriculum in general.

About Me...

Having taught for thirty years, I joined the faculty at Fox Lane in 2004, teaching A.P. Literature and Composition and serving as the English Coordinator.  As coordinator, I work with colleagues in sharpening our teaching and developing curriculum -- and that is good work to do -- but I am especially happy to do that work while also remaining a classroom teacher.

In addition to my work in Bedford, I am a member of the Executive Board of the Connecticut Writing Project at Fairfield University.  This is a local chapter of the National Writing Project, an organization run by and for teachers.  The NWP is dedicated to researching, sharing, and advancing best methods of teaching writing and reading, and to the use of writing to learn in all disciplines.  I attend and offer courses and workshops for teachers throughout southern Connecticut, including the "Summer Institute in the Teaching of Writing," a four-week graduate seminar at Fairfield U.  It is very satisfying work, and I'm lucky to be a part of the Writing Project.

Work with the Writing Project also inspires me to keep working as a writer myself.  Once a month I meet with colleagues in a writing group; we share our works-in-progress and, as teachers, inevitably talk about how we try to share and inspire writing among our students.  I typically share poems with the group, partly because it is poems I find time to write.  You can find a small sample of my modest poetry at the bottom of the "quotes, poems, etc." page of this web site (when that link is up-to-date and fit for public reading).
