Annual Professional Performance Review

  • The Annual Professional Performance Review is the New York State Department of Education plan for teacher and principal evaluation.  Information about the plan requirements can be found at http://www.engageny.org/

The evaluation process for teachers and principals includes three components:  1) A review of performance based observation, lesson planning and curriculum artifacts, discussion, and other means that are assessed on rubric of practice; 2) Student performance on state standardized tests in grades 3-8 and high school courses with a state assessment or student performance on “locally developed” assessments; and 3) the performance of all students in the school on literacy.  These three components are reviewed using a pre-determined point system.
