Annual Professional Performance Review

  • The Annual Professional Performance Review is the New York State Department of Education plan for teacher and principal evaluation.  Information about the plan requirements can be found at

The evaluation process for teachers and principals includes three components:  1) A review of performance based observation, lesson planning and curriculum artifacts, discussion, and other means that are assessed on rubric of practice; 2) Student performance on state standardized tests in grades 3-8 and high school courses with a state assessment or student performance on “locally developed” assessments; and 3) the performance of all students in the school on literacy.  These three components are reviewed using a pre-determined point system.
