Social-Emotional Learning

In Bedford Central School District, we are implementing the RULER approach to social-emotional learning. The RULER approach was designed by Marc Brackett from the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence.

During the 2020-2021 school year, an implementation team in each BCSD school, consisting of teachers, clinicians and adminstrators, participated in a training process to gain a thorough understanding of the RULER approach to social-emotional learning, its tools, and strategies.

During the 2021-2022 school year, the implementation team at each school is working closely with faculty and staff to turn-key the training and begin implementing the lessons, tools, and strategies with students in the classrooms. Parents will be brought in as partners and will also receive training in order to better understand the RULER approach as we work together to support social-emotional learning in our school community.
