Matt Vanacoro, K-12 Coordinator for Performing Arts

Matt is a graduate of Manhattanville College and New York University. He has taught in the Bedford Central Schools his entire career, and currently directs the Fox Lane Middle School Musical Theater program. Beyond his teaching in the Bedford schools, Mr. Vanacoro has taught at Manhattanville College and has presented several clinics on middle school general music at the NYSSMA Winter Conference in Rochester, NY. Mr. Vanacoro has collaborated as a keyboardist in studio and on stage with artists such as Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Mark Wood (Trans-Siberian Orchestra), Mark Rivera (Billy Joel Band), Aaron Carter, Daryl Stuermer (Genesis), Jay Azzolina, Marcus Ratzenboeck (Tantric), KeKe Palmer, Monet Monico, C-Note, Jordan Knight, and many others.  He has appeared on many recordings with a variety of artists, as well as had his own music featured in films from Lionsgate Studios.

Heather holds a Masters degree in Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and a Masters in Educational Leadership from the Future School Leaders Academy at Bank Street College of Education.  Her undergraduate work in Studio Art, Art History and Psychology are from Skidmore College. Heather has spent her entire career in Bedford, dedicating herself to developing and providing the very best education for our students here in the Bedford Central School District.  As a leader, she has worked to foster innovation and create a collaborative and philosophically aligned Visual Arts department that is increasingly student centered.  Outside the department, Heather has both served on and led school and district committees including the Student Achievement Advisory Committee, BOCES and District Curriculum Council, the FAME Board, District Tri-States Steering Committee, School and District Leadership Teams, School Emergency Response Team, District Time Study Team, District Google Pilot Group and Technology Committee, School-based Data Team, APPR Committee, and the District Innovation, Creativity and Technology Committee.  Outside the district, Heather is the current President of the Westchester Arts Leadership Association, and through collaboration with her colleagues, provides other districts with professional development in the TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) approach to art education.  As a teacher, coach, mentor and supervisor, Heather is passionate about nurturing the potential in our students, teachers and leaders.  Outside of Education, Heather is an artist and mother of 4 teenage daughters. She enjoys many art forms, but  focuses on Ceramics and Painting in her own work, currently exhibiting at the Silverwood Gallery in Saratoga Springs, NY.
