Student Drop-Off Authorization
If a student may be met at the bus stop by an adult other than a parent/guardian, a Drop-off Authorization Form indicating the name(s) and phone number(s) of person(s) permitted to received the student must be completed and submitted to the student's school. A bus driver will not release a student to an adult who is not authorized by a parent/guardian to receive the student.
NOTE: Beginning with the 2021-22 school year the Drop-off Authorization Form and the Alternate Stop/Daycare Request have been combined into a single form.

Kindergarten Students
Per Board of Education policy, all kindergarten students must be met by an adult at their bus stop in the afternoon. Bus drivers are instructed not to allow a kindergarten student to exit the bus unless there is a parent or pre-approved adult present to receive them.
- If a kindergarten student will be met at the bus by an older sibling, the sibling MUST be in grade 6 or higher.
Grade 1 - 5 Students
Generally speaking, students in grades 1 through 5 will be released from the bus WITHOUT an adult to receive them. If you would like to request that a student in grades 1 through 5 NOT be permitted to exit the bus unless an adult is present, you MUST submit this request in writing to the school.
Special Education (IEP) Students
Students who have special transportation arrangements based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) must be met by an adult at their bus stop in the afternoon. Bus drivers are instructed not to allow a student to exit the bus unless there is an adult present to receive them. If a student may be met at the bus by an adult other than a parent/guardian, a Drop-off Authorization Form indicating the name(s) of the person(s) permitted to receive the student must be submitted to the student's school.
If you would like to request your special transportation student be allowed to exit the bus at his/her assigned stop in the afternoon without an adult present, a written request must be submitted to the student's school. A determination for approval/denial of the request will be made through a coordinated decision by the building prinicpal, teacher and special education department.
No Adult at Stop To Receive Student
In the event a parent/guardian is not at a bus stop to receive a student, a dispatcher will attempt to reach a parent/guardian by phone while the bus continues on its trip. If the parent/guardian cannot be reached by phone the dispatcher then contacts the school to give notification they may need to return a student to the school. After the completion of the trip the driver will make another attempt to deliver the student to the assigned stop. If there is no parent/guardian to receive the student, the driver will then return the student to the school.
