The Bike Run is back! This is a community-wide health and wellness event built by parents in partnership with the district, for kids aged K-5. Children from every BCSD elementary school, of all biking and scooting abilities, will be invited to ride around the Fox Lane campus and then run down onto and around the track, before they cross the finish line and receive a medal from their Phys. Ed. teachers! This event is funded by registration fees, raffles sales, and the generous sponsors listed below - click on their logos to see what they offer!

Registration

The link will activate HERE from 8:00 am on Monday, March 16 and close either when we reach our hard capacity or at 11:59 pm on Sunday, March 22. You MUST register within this window.

Learn to Ride Clinic!!!

In the past, we had a lot of kids who would have liked to participate, but were not confident enough yet to ride. So we have teamed up again with NeverStopMoving365 to run a clinic from 1-3pm, in two shifts, at Fox Lane Middle School on Sunday, May 3! If you'd like to participate, click YES on the registration page, and we will see you on the 3rd for anything from learning to ride, up to taking some practice laps!

Packet pick-up

You also MUST pick up your child's registration packet, t-shirt and swag bag outside Fox Lane Middle School from 8:30 - 11:00 am on Saturday, May 16.

Bike Safety Check @ Hickory & Tweed!

We are thrilled to have Hickory & Tweed as our new partner to make sure everyone has a safe and fun ride. They have also generously donated a sweet unisex 24" Trek bike to our raffle! Bring your bike and helmet to the shop by 5/10 to receive two free extra chances above the general raffle pool, to win the bike!

FAQ

You probably have a lot of questions... Let's try and answer 'em!

My kid can't ride a bike... See above, re the clinic on May 3! Even if that's not enough, scooters and bikes with training wheels are allowed! Skateboards are not. Helmets are required.

Can my kid ride but not run, or run but not ride? Unless your child has certain special needs, they will need to participate in both disciplines. And if your child does have certain needs that make it difficult for him/her/they to participate, we got you. Just email BCSDBikeRun@Gmail.com about any additional accommodations you need, and we will make it happen.

How long is this course? It varies by age, and is designed to be very do-able for all. Grades K-1 will ride 4/5 mi. / run 1/4 mi. Grades 2-3 will bike 1.2 mi. / run .5 mi., Grades 4-5 will bike 2 mi. / run 1 mi.

Ugh, we have lax / soccer / baseball / football / [other] that morning, and it may be tight. When will my child start? All we are able to say is that we will start with the 4th and 5th graders around 8:30 a.m. and work our way down into the Kindergartners and 1st graders. The whole event should last about 1.5 hours.

1.5 hours?!? It was SO hot three years ago. Is it going to be hot again? We can't say. But if it is, the water will be colder, and we will have spray stations at the start and on the track. Remember, the 2024 weather was perfect!

You mentioned a raffle. I love raffles! How do I buy raffle tickets? You can purchase raffle tickets for all of our prizes, as well as the Trek bike, on the registration site when it's activated HERE, or on the day of the event behind the bleachers. As mentioned, popping into Bicycle World with your bike for a safety check could earn you a couple extra chances at winning the bike!

This all sounds like a lot of work. Do you need help? Email our volunteer coordinator Jess Belanger at BCSDBikeRun@gmail.com to discuss how you can help either before or on the day of the event. This event will ONLY succeed with help from the community.

My business would love to sponsor the event or donate raffle prizes! How do I do that? Please email BCSDBikeRun@gmail.com for sponsorship opportunities or LHarm24@gmail.com for raffles. You will also be able to sign up as a sponsor on the registration site once it opens!

What if it rains? There's no such thing as bad weather, just bad gear. Come prepared, and we will still have fun!

Aaaaahhhhhh, I have so many more questions! Email BCSDBikeRun@gmail.com. We got you.
