The 2025-2026 Fox Lane Science Olympiad team poses in the lobby of the HS

Earlier this month, 40 dedicated students represented Fox Lane High School and the Bedford Central School District at the Lower Hudson Valley Regional North Competition. It was a day defined by high energy, scientific curiosity, and impressive teamwork.

Students’ hard work throughout the year truly paid off. Out of a highly competitive field, the team brought home 21 individual medals and secured an outstanding sixth-place overall finish.

🏆 Special Recognition & Leadership

While every student contributed to our sixth-place finish, several individuals went above and beyond in their performance and leadership.

The "Hat Trick" Heroes

A massive shout-out to the following six students who achieved a "Hat Trick" by medaling in three separate events. Balancing the study and building requirements for three different disciplines is no small feat!

  • Rachel Agnello, Emma Chang, Nadia Creiner, Tess Larsen, Hades Laskaris, Evan Stackle

The "Diaper Dandy" Award

This award goes to Savannah Hodge, the top-performing freshman, who stepped onto the regional stage and secured the highest finish for their grade level.

Carrying the Torch: The Class of 2026

Seniors have been the backbone of this club. Beyond their technical skills, they led by example: welcoming new members, teaching the "ropes" of complex events, and fostering a spirit of inclusivity.

Leading the way: Felix Suiu

A very special mention must be made for Club President Felix Suiu. For all four years of high school, Felix has been 100% committed to the Science Olympiad club and everyone in it.

As president, Felix has been more than just a competitor. Felix has been a mentor, an organizer, shirt designer, and the team's biggest cheerleader. This dedication has ensured that the club remained a welcoming and competitive environment for everyone. Fox Lane Science Olympiad is stronger today because of Felix’s four years of unwavering service and leadership.

A Legacy of Support

The success of the day was fueled by a unique bridge between the past and present of Fox Lane Science & Technology. The club is currently led by Sal Tatto and Fred Neumann, whose expertise and leadership ensure our students are competition ready.

The team was also fortunate to have retired teachers Jerry Ludwig and Steve Kluge return to help run events. With Kluge’s career at Fox Lane dating back to 1979, students were supported by a coaching lineage spanning six decades. The team also owes a special thanks to Nicole Goldstein-Regan, who chaperoned and supervised the team throughout the marathon event.
