Bedford Central School District Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Celebrating Beautiful New Spaces
Held at the high school, the ceremony touched on the districtwide changes made through the bond project

Earlier this month, Fox Lane High School opened its doors to the community for a ribbon cutting celebrating the completion of the district’s many beautifully remodeled spaces within its multi-year, bond-funded construction project.
Community members were able to tour Fox Lane High School’s new spaces including a state-of-the-art library, a new fitness center and newly renovated common areas like the cafeterias and main hallway.
“The transformation of the high school stands as a testament to what can be accomplished when people come together around a shared vision: providing the very best educational opportunities for the next generation,” said Board of Education Vice President Steve Matlin.
Community members noted how it was like walking into a whole new building.
“I thought we were at the wrong school for a second!” one said.
With curved hallways, bright new lighting and spaces reminiscent of a college campus, the students have been loving the changes as well.

“The cafeteria looks so fresh and big!”
“There are amazing spaces. I can really see myself doing my schoolwork in here.”
“The library is like a college merged with a hotel! This is awesome.”
As families and community members walked into the new library, they were impressed with the wide-open feel and the breakout rooms designed for lessons and study sessions. There is even a deescalation room that is available to give students some space and allow them to regulate themselves.
The new fitness center was also a highlight, with community members noting the bright, modern lighting. The space is currently awaiting $140k in equipment that was provided by an anonymous donor.
“Today, we celebrate more than the renovation of a building,” Matlin said. “We celebrate an investment in opportunity. We celebrate an investment in achievement. And most of all, we celebrate an investment in the students who will walk through these doors every day, pursuing their dreams and preparing to become the leaders, innovators, and citizens of tomorrow.”
The high school is not the only building which has benefited from the project. Each school has had upgrades ranging from a new front entrance and updated labs to new flooring and security vestibules.
“I want to recognize and thank the taxpayers of our community,” Matlin said. “Every classroom, laboratory, athletic space, performance venue, and collaborative learning area has been made possible by the citizens who chose to invest in the education of our young people. We recognize this project represents a significant commitment of public resources, and we are deeply grateful for the confidence you have placed in us.”
