Five Fox Lane High School students have been acknowledged by the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) for exemplary achievement. The stellar musicians were invited to participate in Conference All-State ensembles.

Senior Lily Kimble (violin) was selected for the String Orchestra, junior Franke Kelly (alto) was selected for the Mixed Chorus, and senior David Matz (double bass) was selected for the Symphony Orchestra. Juniors Samuel Liu (cello) and Tyler Nakajima-Graham (violin) have been chosen as alternates.

"Having these students selected for participation is a great honor,” said Matt Vanacoro, the district’s Performing Arts Department K-12 coordinator. “We have a truly exceptional performing arts team, from kindergarten all the way through high school. We are proud to have such an enriching program that starts building a love of music and the foundations for how it can enrich your life from the very first day the kids set foot in school."

The selected students will be participating in the NYSSMA Winter Conference in Rochester in December 2025. About 600 of the most advanced student-musicians from across New York are invited to attend each year.

“It is a great honor to be returning to All State,” David said. “I am excited not only by the captivating music but also by the prospect of meeting so many talented musicians. I learned so much from my experience last year, and I cannot wait to learn even more!”

In addition to meeting talented fellow student-musicians, students also have the privilege of being directed by renowned guest conductors.

“All State selection is a highly competitive process; these students are exceptional,” said Janine Bergamini, Fox Lane High School’s Director of Orchestras. “This is a well-deserved acknowledgment of our music students’ dedication and talents.”
