The BCSD Board Meeting Brief is designed to be a quick, high-level rundown of Bedford Central School District’s Board of Education meetings. While the full information is always available to the public on BoardDocs, we know you’re busy and we want to deliver an easily digestible overview of each of our meetings.

  • Student Recognition: Alex Berisha, a Fox Lane High School wrestler, won the State title in overtime in the 215-pound category. This is his third State title. He was also named the Con Edison Student Athlete of the Week.
  • Student Announcements
    • Fox Lane High School Best Buddies visited Coach Dalton’s class at Bedford Village Elementary School. The elementary school students and high school students did physical education together
    • Neurodiversity Week: Pioneer basketball game held in the large gym
  • Budget Presentation: Background on Elementary Sectioning, Scheduling, and Title I Budgeting. View the presentation and additional budget information.
  • Board Announcements
    • Fox Lane Middle School’s “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” was fantastic!
  • Superintendent Announcements
    • New Interim Assistant Superintendent for Business, Linda Carlin, started this week. She will be at the Board table beginning next week and will be part of the Facilities and Finance Committee
    • We’re excited to be celebrating Neurodiversity Week. Dr. Glass had the opportunity to participate in some read-alouds and coffee and conversation events
    • Dr. Glass participated in a really productive and robust conversation with our Parent Presidents group this week
    • Dr. Glass, Ms. Fishkin and several other staff members attended an all-day MTSS meeting that focused on social-emotional supports for students and how to systematize those
    • A Learning Walk took place at Fox Lane Middle School. Teams of teachers visit other buildings, go into classrooms and share what they see, and use it as a learning opportunity
  • Policy Review - 2nd Read/Adoption:
  • New Business: Board discussion on school start time
    • We have the research that says a later start time is good for students, but we have to keep in mind that to do things responsibly, the logistics will take some time.
    • Consider moving forward with surveys and looking into logistics next year
    • Board would like to see a timeline and steps required
