The BCSD Board Meeting Brief is designed to be a quick, high-level rundown of Bedford Central School District’s Board of Education meetings. While the full information is always available to the public on BoardDocs, we know you’re busy and we want to deliver an easily digestible overview of each of our meetings.

    • Student Recognition: Athletics and Visual & Performing Arts

  • Student Announcements
    • Sam DeMarco led Fox Lane’s team for the Polar Plunge held at the beach in Rye. The Polar Plunge’s goal is to support Special Olympic athletes. 24 Fox Lane students went into the water and raised $3,000 for the cause!
    • Friday, 11/21 was the final Fox Read event of the year. The monster art exhibit showcased students' and community members' work related to the novel The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind.
    • The high school’s fall play, “Winter Break,” was also this weekend.
    • Fox Lane’s Youth in Action club is partnering with Neighbors Link for a holiday toy drive. Boxes will be at the North and South entrances of the high school for students to drop off new and unwrapped toys. The deadline is November 28.

    • The fall athletic season has come to a close
    • Dr. Glass asked Ms. Fishkin to update the Board on the Portrait of a Graduate
    • Advocacy efforts around public school funding: LHCOSS is having a meeting 11/19, Ms. Tiggs attended and represented BCSD 
    • The Later School Start Time workgroup will meet the week of 11/24. The hope is to have a report soon
    • The Northwell contract was approved by the Board in a special meeting held on November 10The 
    • Monster Art exhibit was on 11/21
    • In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Dr. Glass expressed his gratitude for the Board and the work that they do for students.

    • Northwell Mental Health Clinic - Update
    • Dr. Glass gave a brief overview of the timeline of the Northwell Mental Health Clinic from inception to the Board's vote and unanimous acceptance on November 10, 2025 and what the steps are moving forward. Access to the clinic will begin on December 1, 2025.
  • New Business
    • Public Notice of the 2025-2026 District Safety Plans
      • The Board of Education will hold a Public Hearing on the District-Wide Safety and Emergency Management Plan at its regular meeting on  December 10, 2025 at 7:00 pm, at The Fox Lane Middle School Suzanne Grant Theater. The plan has been posted as of November 6, 2025 for a thirty (30) day comment period and is available on the district website. The plan originally accepted by the Board at their August 27, 2025 meeting has been amended to include new regulations regarding Cardiac Arrest Preparedness.
      • It is expected that the Board of Education will adopt the plan following the Public Hearing.
