BCSD Congratulates Henry Davis

Dear BCSD Community,

Bedford Central School District is thrilled to congratulate 2018 Fox Lane graduate Henry Davis on his selection as the number one pick in this year’s Major League Baseball Draft. This is a truly tremendous accomplishment. Henry is the first number one draft pick from Westchester since 1985.

Fox Lane baseball coach and science teacher Matt Hillis was at the Draft to celebrate with Henry and his family.

According to Hillis, Davis’s work ethic was something that always stood out about him.

“I always felt he was the most ultra-competitive, hardworking player I’ve ever had,” Hillis said. “He has characteristics that were obviously going to set him up for success in this life: he’s super intelligent, driven, talented. If you throw those things into an individual, they are probably going to be successful at any job. But when it comes to the highly competitive world of professional sports, it’s exactly what he needed to get where he is.”

Pride in Henry is obvious in his hometown fans. From little leaguers to Boosters, we are all inspired by his accomplishments and know there is so much more to see from this incredible young athlete.

“Henry’s accomplishment shows our student-athletes that anything is possible with hard work and commitment,” said Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics Adam Lodewick.

Congratulations Henry! We cannot wait to see where your hard work and drive takes you next!
