BCSD's New Communications and Information Systems
Dear BCSD community,
With the first day of school approaching, we want to make sure everyone has as much clarity as possible regarding our new communications and information systems.
ParentSquare is our new communication tool. It replaces Blackboard and Smore newsletters. It will be used for school-wide communications, district communications, emergency alerts and more. The following video gives a helpful overview of ParentSquare’s features. Please bear in mind that not all features have been activated yet, but will be gradually incorporated.
Our new student information system is called Synergy. ParentVUE is part of that system and replaces eSchoolData Parent Portal. It will be used for gradebook, attendance, report cards and storing student information. Student schedules and gradebook will be the primary functions of this program. Your child’s school will provide you with the timeline of when student schedules will be available. As we introduce the features to students and parents, we will provide more information.
Please note that the BCSD app is no longer connected to our student information system. Please refer to Synergy ParentVUE and StudentVUE on the Launchpad for student gradebook and schedules.
Please note that as of 8/26, only parents and guardians of high school students have received ParentVUE activation codes. Middle school codes will be rolled out on Monday, 8/29 and elementary school codes will come at a later date.
If you are the parent or guardian of a high school student and have NOT received an activation code to the email address on file with FLHS, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. The Technology Department is working through these requests.
Please note that you must activate your ParentVUE account via the website BEFORE using the ParentVUE mobile app.
We encourage you to download both apps (ParentSquare and ParentVUE). Be aware that both tools will default to your preferred language which is already stored in our system.
We know these tools are new for all of us. Thank you for your patience as we transition to two new systems that will be more robust and effective tools in the long run.
