Fox Lane Science Olympiad Team Medals in State Tournament

Fox Lane Science Olympiad team poses during state tournament

Congratulations to the 14 students who represented Fox Lane High School at the 2022 New York State Science Olympiad Tournament earlier this month in Syracuse, New York. The annual event brought together the 60 best schools from New York State in person for the first time in three years.

New York has more than 700 high school Science Olympiad teams competing each year. At the state tournament, medals are given to the top 10 in each event. Fox Lane earned two top 10 finishes:

  • Riley Hester and Jacob Feldman finished 10th in Environmental Chemistry
  • Brett Waldman and Jacob Feldman finished third in Chemistry Lab —the second-highest finish ever for Fox Lane students at the state level!

This is the ninth time Fox Lane has qualified and competed in the state tournament. The tournament is extremely competitive and earning a medal places students in the top tier of students in the state.

Jacob Feldman earned his first medal last year, and this year has added two to his collection. Jacob is the first student from Fox Lane to ever earn three medals at the state tournament.

Participating students included Joseph Bloom, Isa Braun, Jacob Feldman, Gianna Gagliardi, Emma Greene, Alexandra Griffin, Riley Hester, Jennifer Lee, Stephanie Long, Eigel Morgan, Victor Perea, Jake Tetenman, Brett Waldman and Gabe Wierzchowsk. Their advisors are Fred Neumann and Jerry Ludwig.
